Eagles give up only one match downing Lions 6-1

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. -- Carson-Newman finally grabs a win as they take down Mars Hill 6-1 Wednesday afternoon at Mossy Creek. 

The Eagles (2-13, 1-5 SAC) dropped their No. 1 doubles match as Gabriel Dabdab (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) and Rintaro Oka (Narita, Japan) fell to Ben Reid and Rodrigo Ramos 6-1. The other two doubles matches made up for the first loss with Victor Ireno (Sau Paulo, Brazil) and Joseph Stiles (New Oxford, Penn.) defeating Tom Farman and Pedro Pinassi at No. 3 6-4. Hernan Toledo (Santiago, Chile) and Jesus Bacete (Madrid, Spain) came out on top against Fernando Neto and Kyrel Trim 6-2 to secure the doubles point. 

In singles play, C-N continued its winning into the first three singles matches on the court. At No. 4 Marc Bantel (Urbach, Germany) defeated Pinassi 6-2, 6-0 and Dabdab made up for his doubles loss against Ramos winning 6-2, 6-4. Ireno finished his match third out of the singles coming out on top against Farman 6-2, 6-1 to stretch the lead to 4-0 overall in the match. 

Needing just one more win to clinch the match, Bacete secured the win defeating Trim at 6-3, 6-1 at No 5.

The only point the Lions were able to muster against the Eagles was at No. 1 singles where Toledo was defeated by Reid 6-2, 7-5. Oka finished out the day for the Eagles at No. 3 singles defeating Neto 6-4, 7-5.

The Eagles will be back in action on the road against Catawba on Saturday at 1 p.m.
