Price goes back-to-back as SAC Player of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. – For the second week in-a-row and third time as a senior, Haris Price was named the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week announced by the league office Monday morning.

"She has absolutely lit it up here these last few games," Carson-Newman coach Mike Mincey said. "She has put together not only Player of the Week type of numbers but also a second year of All-American caliber season the way that she is playing right now."

The senior guard becomes the first player in the league to win two straight honors since herself when Price was honored on Nov. 20-27, 2017, the second and third weeks of last season.

In blowout wins over Mars Hill and Coker last week, the Gatlinburg, Tenn. native averaged 25.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 3.5 steals. She went 18-for-28 from the field, 8-for-13 from long range and converting all seven foul shots.

The week began with the All-American tallying 28 points in a 109-49 victory over Mars Hill Wednesday night as she went 10-for-15 from the field and going 6-for-8 from three-point range. She added six assists, five rebounds and a pair of steals.

Price continued her string of scoring outbursts with a game-high 23 points making eight of 13 field-goal tries adding eight rebounds, five steals and three assists in 23 minutes in a 98-65 win over Coker. The senior moved up to ninth passing Stacie Dunn (2000-04) bringing her career tally to 1,263.

Elsewhere on the school's ledger, she is seventh in three-pointers made with 125, five shy of moving up, and 10th in assists with 318, three shy of ninth.

During the 2019 calendar year, Price is averaging 25 points per game while shooting 60 percent from the field and 59 percent from deep, 29-for-49. Over 10 games, she has five with at least 25 including a 39- and 44-point effort.

The Lady Eagles hit the road for a Wednesday tussle against league-leading Anderson, winners of 19 straight contests. Audio coverage can be found on cneagles.com/live and 106.3 WPFT-FM starting at 5:45 for the 6 p.m. tilt.
