JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman women's golf coach Suzanne Strudwick announced Monday the addition of Cydney Murrell to her staff as a graduate assistant coach.

This is the first graduate assistant for the program in Strudwick's tenure.

"I'm very excited because it's something new. It's something fresh, you know, I'm starting all over again. I'm really excited.

"I think [my playing experience] will help because, you know, I've been playing for the past four years and I kind of know [what the athletes] what's going on in their heads, I know what they need as encouragement, everything like that."

Murrell comes to Mossy Creek by way of Tusculum where she wrapped up a record-career with the Pioneers this past spring. She racked up a 79.37 scoring average in her time with the team, marking the fourth-lowest career average in program history. Her career average was supremely helped by her 76.67 scoring clip through 12 rounds of play as a senior, including a +19 showing for a share of 21st at the South Atlantic Conference championship tournament that landed her a spot on the All-Tournament second team.

She is third in the team's history on the low 54-hole score list with a 225 at the Agnes McAmis Memorial in 2018. She recorded a low single-round score of 71 four times during her career, tying her for ninth on the program's list for low 18-hole scores.

"Cydney has that type of personality that likes to organize and be a leader," Strudwick said. "For me personally, it will be nice to just have another set of eyes on the team to help get feedback from their practices because when you have the 12 players spread on the course during practice, it's hard to get the full grasp of how they're playing so we can spread the load a bit. The same goes for tournaments when we have five girls playing at once. It will be easier to get the feedback and information to them that they need and really evaluate the players."

Murrell graduated from Tusculum with a Bachelor's in Business Administration with Minors in Tax and Finance as well as Coaching. She landed on the Dean's List numerous times and was the treasurer of the Education Club. She also initiated and organized the school's Clothing Closet.
