JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – A rare contest where the Carson-Newman women's soccer team (11-2) is the second game of a doubleheader takes place Wednesday afternoon as the Eagles travel to face the King (Tenn.) Tornado (7-4-2) at Parks Field at 3 p.m.

In their last five contests, the Tornado are 2-2-1 with wins over Barton and North Greenville; the 4-3 win over the Crusaders on Satuday was King's last contest. Carson-Newman is 4-1 in its last five contests and have won three-straight games, including Saturday's 1-0 win over ninth-ranked Wingate.

Last season, an Eagle side that finished the year 3-14 knocked off the Tornado 3-0 at McCown Field; King finished 10-8 and lost in the Conference Carolinas quarterfinals to Belmont Abbey in 2014. The lone returning goal scorer from last year's contest is sophomore Camilla Olsson (Trondheim, Norway) who scored her first-career goal in the contest.

King is 1-1-1 in 2015 against South Atlantic Conference opponents with a win over Mars Hill 4-2 to open the season. The Tornado drew Carson-Newman's next opponent, Brevard, 1-1 and fell to Tusculum 4-0. The other common foe between the two sides is Trevecca Nazarene and the Trojans knocked King 4-2 in the midstate. The lone Conference Carolinas foe the Eagles have faced this season is Lees-McRae and C-N knocked off the Bobcats 3-0 three weeks ago.

Kara Garrett leads the Tornado with 10 goals on the season and Hulda Sigurdardottir has nine scores. Garrett, a redshirt-freshman, has two-goal games and King has won five of the seven games in which she has scored. Siguardardottir has scored in each of her last two contests and leads King with 22 points on the year.

Olivia Drake has played the most time in net for King with over 896 minutes accumulated in frame and eight starts. The sophomore has allowed 21 goals and made 54 saves; Drake possesses a 2.11 goals against averge. Nicole Dagher has made six appearances and has allowed five goals in 2015.

Carson-Newman's offense is led by reigning SAC AstroTurf Player of the Week Julianne Herrity (Donegal, Ireland) who has scored in each of the last four contests. Herrity has 10 goals on the season, which is the first double-digit goal season for an Eagle since 2011 when Trenna Howell found the back of the net 13 times.

The Eagles have never lost to King; since the series started in 2000, C-N is 11-0-0 and have won the last five contests by a combined score of 19-3. All 11 of the matches have ended in regulation.

Carson-Newman and King kick off at 3 p.m. from Parks Field in Bristol with live stats and video available from the King Sports Information department.
