Mosengo inks deal with Crystal Palace F.C.

London, England – After helping Carson-Newman to an NCAA Southeast Region semifinal appearance in 2018, forward Magda Mosengo has inked her first professional soccer contract with Crystal Palace F.C.

The contract serves as a homecoming affair for Mosengo, who is a native Londoner. Crystal Palace currently competes in the FA Women's Championship – the second-highest division of women's soccer in England – where they most recently finished tenth out of 11 teams on the table in the 2018-19 season, respectively.

"Everything about her game, the power, and obviously the goal scoring (are strengths)," head coach Simon Duffy said. "But a lot of it was her drive. She brought that bit of competitiveness and bit of bite and raised the level of the rest of the team. As a lot of our players are, she hates to lose and you could see that in her play.

"I'm just so happy and thrilled for her as she goes to play for the (Crystal Palace) Eagles in London."

Mosengo posted one of the better seasons in both the history of the program and all of Divison II last year as she maintained a spot inside the nation's top-10 in goals and points throughout her senior campaign. Finishing with 20 goals and seven assist for a total of 47 points, Mosengo tied for 8th overall in single season points since the team's inception in 1991. She was also named the conference's Offensive Player of the Year with a First-team All-SAC nod.

The 5-9 forward is also the program's all-time leading scorer in NCAA postseason play with 10 goals and three assists. Failing to record a point in the first two games of the 2018 season, she recorded at least one point in 17 straight contests, including five postseason games. She ended the year ranked 8th in the nation in points and 8th in goals, six of which were game winners. In her career as an Eagle, Mosengo is tied second in the program with 13 game winners, second in total goals (40), and third in total points (101).

In her junior campaign in 2017, Mosengo recorded 17 goals, 13 assists and 47 points total. Mosengo was a second-team All-SAC selection and earned SAC All-Tournament Team honors. She recorded seven game-winning goals on the season, and was named to the NCAA D2 Women's Soccer Championship All-Tournament Team.

The C-N women's soccer team will kick off the 2019 season Sept. 5 in an away contest against Bellarmine.
