KNOXVILLE, TN – The Carson-Newman women's tennis team will participate in their final event of the fall season when they host the Eagle Invitational in Knoxville, Tennessee on Oct. 26th and 27th.

The tournament will pit the Eagles against Tennessee Wesleyan, Martin Methodist College, the University of the Cumberlands and Maryville College.

"Tennessee Wesleyan is probably the best of that group," Carson-Newman coach Jim Frederick said. "Their doubles team won the ITA Regional Tournament so they're good and we played them last year and lost to them last year so they're probably the best."

The tournament will consist of four separate eight-person draws for both the men and women. Each player will take part in two singles and one doubles match on the first day while participants will play two doubles and one singles match the following day.

Freshman Natasha Forrest (Jersey, United Kingdom) will make her collegiate debut at the event.

"I just said to her, 'don't worry about it, just play'" Frederick said. "The performance part of it, that'll come in January but she's excited to play."

The Eagles look to end their fall season on a high note by capitalizing on the skills they've been working on since the team first arrived on campus in August.

"Our situation in order to improve is all mental," Frederick said. "I mean, we've got some physical skill. We've got to get better mentally match by match and we don't have the consistency yet mentally that we need to have so that's kind of what we're preaching this week."
