JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – In a match that Carson-Newman filled with extended spurts, the Eagles pulled away early and often against Georgia College in a 25-18, 25-13, 25-18 sweep of the Bobcats Friday afternoon at Holt Fieldhouse to open the South Atlantic Conference versus Peach Belt Conference Crossover.
Carson-Newman (9-5) earns its first win in three tries against Georgia College (5-7) tallying its sixth sweep of the season to improve to 5-1 in home affairs on the year.
Marnie Streeter (Goldvein, Va.) paced all players with a dozen kills on the day hitting .267 with five digs. Erin Edwards (Midlothian, Va.) was the only other player to reach double figures finishing with 10 on a .429 hitting clip.
Taylor Rohr (Windsor, Colo.) dished out 20 assists and had five digs with Elena Vasquez (Riverside, Calif.) tallying 13 assists. Morgan Ballard (Weaverville, N.C.) inched closer to 2,000 career digs with 16 on the day.
Five different players had at least five kills for the Eagles who produced a .240 hitting percentage with 41 kills, 35 digs, 12 service aces and four rejections.

It was an ominous start for the Eagles watching the Bobcats rattle off seven of nine to take a six-point advantage at 14-8 in the opening frame. Something clicked for C-N as the team scored six straight points to tie the contest using a 17-4 spurt to close out the set behind a .257 attack percentage and five kills from Streeter.
The momentum carried over into the second stanza with the Eagles winning nine of the first 12 points of the game to surge to an early six-point lead. Carson-Newman never looked back putting it on cruise control to go on top 2-0 hitting .333 as a club in the process.
Georgia College surged to a 6-2 lead in the third game before faltering as C-N scored 15 of the next 19 with the final seven unanswered to go on top 17-10. The Bobcats chipped away but the deficit was too much as Edwards and Katie Parnell (Atlanta) combined to get a block to seal a victory.
The Bobcats finished with a .103 attack percentage on 22 kills with 40 digs, seven blocks and two aces. Emma Boughner posted seven kills on eight swings while the rest of the team registered 15 kills and 14 errors.
Emily Long polished off a double-double with 18 digs and 10 assists while libero Jordyn Moellering racked up 16 scoops.
