JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman cheer and dance coach Christy Bowlin has announced dates and times for the Carson-Newman Spirit Squads annual clinic and tryouts as well as a fundraiser for nationals.
Carson-Newman cheerleaders are selling stuffed Eagles for 18 dollars in an effort to raise funds for an April trip to nationals. Contact a Carson-Newman cheerleader or Christy Bowlin at cbowlin@cn.edu to purchase one.
Bowlin and company will play host to the clinic Feb. 11, from 9 a.m. till noon in the three gym area in the Maddox Student Activities Center.
The clinic is open to all high school students and serves as an opportunity to let current C-N cheerleaders get prospective students ready for cheerleading tryouts.
Cost to register is $25.
Tryouts for the 2016-17 cheerleading and dance teams, as well as to dress as C-N mascot Talon will take place from April 21-23 in the three gym area of the MSAC.
The schedule for those days is as follows:
*Friday, April 21st 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. Informational Meeting & Practice
*Saturday, April 22nd 9 a.m. - 10 a.m. Open Practice
9:30 a.m. - Dance Team Tryouts
10:15 a.m. - Cheer/Mascot Tryouts
*Sunday, April 23rd 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. 2017-18 Team Practice/Uniform Fitting
All those who tryout for the 2016-17 squads should have an acceptance letter to Carson-Newman, a minimum 2.0 GPA, a signed release waiver, a $25 tryout fee and be prepared for a short interview.
