Morristown, Tenn.-native Paige Tindall McCord enters her third year as the first men's and women's swimming coach in the history of Carson-Newman.

Year two of the Carson-Newman swim program was more successful than anyone could fathom. Nine Eagles were invited to the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships in Indianapolis; five of the nine swimmers left the Championships with All-American honors and all nine were named Honorable Mention All-Americans. The Eagles finished the dual meets undefeated with a record of 5-0. Through the duration of the season, school records in 33 events were set at least once. The women’s team finished 15th in the nation, while the men finished the year in 18th according to the CSCAA pool. In total, McCord's Eagles accumulated 33 All-Conference titles by 11 athletes, five All-Americans and four Honorable Mention All-Americans. Ten of McCord's Eagles garnered Eagle Scholar awards in the classroom.

In the Eagles' inaugural season, McCord coached two all-conference swimmers in the 400 IM and the 200 Backstroke and saw C-N produce 14 provisional cuts for nationals. In addition, three  student-athletes achieved Bluegrass Mountain Conference Scholar Athlete Honors, and one student-athlete earned CSCAA All-American Honorable Mention Honors for his performance in and out of the water.

McCord comes from a family of swimmers.  Her sister Allyson swam at DePauw University while her sister Tricia took to the waters as a Kansas Jayhawk.  Paige was finished in the top 10 in the 200 back and 200 IM in the Colonial Athletic Association while swimming at Davidson as a freshman.

The move to Jeff City is a return home for McCord.  In addition to growing up in Morristown, McCord was the head coach for the Jefferson City Swim Club from 2007-2008. She coached for USA Swimming's Fort Hood Dolphins in Texas ans USA Swimming's Columbus Hurricanes Master's Triage Group coacch.

McCord said the university is the perfect fit for her coaching style, which combines strong Christian values with the pursuit of both academic and athletic excellence.

McCord earned her Masters degree in coaching and athletic administration from Concordia University in Irvine, Calif., in 2013.

McCord is married to U.S. Army Captain Daniel McCord.  She is the daughter of the late Dr. James Raymond Tindall and Katy Tindall Klose.
