Sharp begins his seventh season as a part of the Carson-Newman University baseball program. He came to the Eagles after graduation from Science Hill High School in Johnson City, Tenn.  He earned his bachelor's degree in Physical Education from Carson-Newman in December 2013. As he played his final season of college baseball in the spring of 2014, he worked on his master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a Coaching Emphasis.

After completing his final season at Carson-Newman, Sharp played professional baseball with the Trinidad Triggers in Trinidad, Colo. in the summer of 2014.

Returning to Mossy Creek in the fall of 2014, Sharp continued working on his master's degree while being a graduate assistant coach for the Eagle baseball team.

In the spring of 2015, Sharp took a one semester job as pitching coach at Blackburn College in Carlinville, Illinois while finishing his master's degree from Carson-Newman.

During his time as a student-athlete at Carson-Newman, Sharp was a four-year pitcher. He led the Eagles in earned run average for the 2012 and 2013 seasons, with his best being 2.22 in 2013. He also gave up only three home runs while striking out 106 batters in 99 innings pitched.

Sharp made the Carson-Newman University Dean's List four times, was elected team captain his senior year and served in the Inaugural Class of Eagle Scholars. He also served as a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee for the 2013-2014 school year and was a three time member of the South Atlantic Conference Honor Roll.
