Coach Gorman enters his 15th year as an assistant with the Eagles. Prior to joining the staff at Carson Newman, Coach Gorman was the head boys’ basketball coach at Sevier County High School in Sevierville (2001-2003) and the head boys’ basketball coach at Hull High School in Hull, Massachusetts (1998-2001). His teams at Hull went to the state tournament three consecutive years, with two of those seasons resulting in sectional quarterfinal appearances.

Coach Gorman’s coaching career began at Melrose High School in Melrose, MA, where he was the head junior varsity and assistant varsity boys’ basketball coach from 1992-1997. During his time at Melrose High School, the varsity squad qualified for the state tournament five consecutive years, won a close to 75% of its games, and was sectional finalists in 1996.

Coach Gorman’s other coaching experiences include serving as the head junior varsity/assistant varsity basketball coach and head track coach at Dundalk High School in Baltimore, MD., and assistant football coach at Northwestern High School in Baltimore, MD. 

In addition to his coaching experience, Coach Gorman was a high school referee at the varsity level in football, baseball, and soccer for over a decade and was a member of the Eastern New England Football Association, Eastern New England Baseball Umpires Association, and the Eastern Massachusetts Soccer Officials Associations.

Professionally, Coach Gorman is in his 15th year as a special education teacher in the Sevier County Schools.  He is also an Adjunct Instructor at Liberty University in Lynchburg VA., and a dissertation chair at Nova University in Fort Lauderdale, FL.  Coach Gorman earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Salem State University, his M. Ed. from Cambridge College, his Ed. S. from Tennessee Technological University, and his Doctorate from Liberty University.
