Carson-Newman Draws West Alabama in Second Round

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman Eagles will host the University of West Alabama in the second round of the NCAA Division II Playoffs on Saturday at Burke-Tarr Stadium. Kickoff is at 1 p.m.

West Alabama (8-4) beat Albany State on Saturday, 24-22, to advance. Quarterback Deon Williams threw for 301 yards, and the Tigers’ special teams blocked two field goals in the win.

Carson-Newman (9-2) is the No. 2 seed in Super Region Two and had a bye this past week. It was the Eagles first off week since the season opened in late August.

C-N is making its second straight playoff appearance, and its 12th NCAA playoff appearance under head coach Ken Sparks.

The Carson-Newman/West Alabama winner will face the winner of No. 1 North Alabama and No. 4 Arkansas Tech on Nov. 28. ATU beat UNC Pembroke yesterday afternoon, 41-13.

Tickets are available by calling the Carson-Newman ticket office at (865) 471-3396. Prices in advance are $15 for chairbacks, $10 for reserved bleachers, and $5 for students. Tickets at the gate are $18 for chairbacks and $10 for all other tickets.
