2018: Appeared in all 11 games for the Eagles with two starts at defensive tackle.  Finished the year with 14 tackles, three tackles for loss and two sacks. A member of the Hampshire Honor Society. 

2017: Appeared in all 11 games with four starts for the Eagles along the defensive line.  He made nine tackles as one of Carson-Newman's interior linemen.  He had multiple stops against Newberry. 

PRIOR TO CARSON-NEWMAN: Registered 23 tackles in both of his seasons at Delaware State while playing in all 22 games the Hornets played in his two years. Competed in all 11 games along the defensive front as a true freshman … tied for 10th on the Hornets with 23 total tackles … tallied 12 solo stops and assisted on 11 tackles … also credited with two tackles-for-loss (-4), one sack (-3) and a pass break-up … had career-best four tackles (each solo) in 27-6 loss to NCA&T on Nov. 14 … recorded two unassisted tackles, including his first career sack for minus-three yards, in 32-31 victory in season-finale on Nov. 21 … recorded three tackles, including a backfield stop (-1), vs. NC Central on Nov. 7 … posted three tackles (one solo) vs. Morgan State on Oct. 3 … recorded at least one tackle in 10 games and two-or-more stops in nine contests. 

HIGH SCHOOL: Four-year varsity at Stephenson High … All-County and All-Region selection as a junior in 2013 … listed as top 10 offensive lineman in Georgia and No. 12 center in the nation entering senior year … 2014 All-County and All-Region selection.  

PERSONAL: Son of Bernard Barnes, Jr. and Pamela Barnes. He was also recruited by Boston College, Georgia Southern and Bethune-Cookman out of high school.
