Alan Duncan begins his seventh season coaching the kickers and punters at Carson-Newman, one of whom was his son, Curt Duncan.

Duncan mentored former All-SAC kicker Carlos Lopez in the 2009-2010 seasons and current Dallas Cowboys punter and All-SAC standout Chris Jones from 2009-2010. Duncan had a storied career at the University of Tennessee where he was known as the “Swahili Sidewinder” and still holds the record for field goals in a game (5) and points for a kicker in a game (17).

With 180 career points, he is the No. 12 all-time scorer for the Volunteers and the No. 8-ranked kicker.

Duncan was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in 1981 and also spent time with the Broncos in 1982. He kicked for the USFL Memphis Showboats for two seasons.

Duncan is the state representative for Tennessee and four other states for the International Mission Board and served for 16 years in South Africa.

Duncan and his wife, Andrea, have four children; Curt, Betsy, Beth-Ann and Chrissy.
