Josh Turner is in his sixth year as an assistant coach with Carson-Newman.  After spending his first three years working with the offensive line, Turner has spent the last two years as running backs coach.  He moved back to the offensive line for the 2022 season.

Turner helped develop Boiling Springs, S.C.-product Phillip McDowell into a two-time All-American offensive lineman.  Under Turner's tutelage as offensive line coach from 2017-19, Turner's lines helped clear the way for a pair of 1,000-yard rushers, Mayo Clinic Comeback Player of the Year Antonio Wimbush and SAC Offensive Freshman of the Year Troy Dendy.

Turner's offensive line in 2018 was headlined by all-conference selections Phil McDowell and Jordan Seal.  The Eagles' roadgraders helped pave the way for the conference's best rushing offense.

Turner joined his father Mike Turner on the coaching staff when he originally joined in 2017.  He was a member of three consecutive SAC title teams from 2002-04 as a center for the Eagles.

Josh spent 2014 as offensive line coach at Knoxville Central High School.  Prior to that, he was Seymour's offensive line coach from 2009-13.

He and his wife Kristi have one daughter, Isbell, and live in Seymour, Tenn.
