Eagles Impress on Final Day of the Fall Kick Off, Finish in 4th Following Cline's Career-low Round

GREENWOOD, S.C. – The Carson-Newman women's golf team moved up one spot on day two of the Fall Kick Off, finishing in 4th and passing in-state foe Tusculum following an impressive final round featuring a new career-low round for junior Madison Cline.

As a team, C-N shot a tournament-low 302 in the final round, finishing at 66-over. The Eagles surpassed the Pioneers, who finished the two-day event at 80-over.

"Really happy with the fight from the team today," head coach Bo Harris said. "Our goal heading into the tournament was a top-five finish, and to dig in from being 12 shots out of 4th place and come out where we did was exactly what I wanted to see."

Ida Petersen moved up two spots to finish tied for 12th, matching her first-round total with a 73 in the third round to finish the tournament at 8-over. The junior started the day hot with two birdies before a bogey on hole three and finished the front nine with six consecutive holes at par. On the back nine, Petersen carded three holes over par but notched two birdies and the rest at par to finish the round at 1-over.

Macy Bromley moved back a few spots to finish tied for 15th but still delivered a solid round, carding a 78 to finish the event at 12-over. Despite two early bogeys, the sophomore stroked six of the next seven holes at par to round out the front nine. The back nine played similarly, with Bromley limiting the damage of two early bogeys, shooting the final seven holes at par to finish the round at 6-over.

The most significant jump of the day came from Madison Cline, climbing 21 spots to finish tied for 22nd following a tournament-low and new collegiate-low for the junior with a 71 in the third round of action. Cline set the tone on the front nine, stroking three birdies and tallying five pars to just one bogey, building momentum heading into the final stretch. Despite four bogeys on the back nine, Cline carded three birdies and two holes at par to add just one stroke on the back nine and finish the round at 1-under, putting her at 18-over for the tournament.

Newcomer Annaelle Picot delivered another solid round, shooting an 80 in the third round to finish tied for 52nd at 29-over. Picot was consistent on the front nine, notching six of the first nine holes at par despite three bogeys. On the back nine, Picot carded four bogeys but responded nicely with four holes at par and a birdie to end the round to finish the day at 8-over.

Sydney Thomas finished in 82nd at 45-over following an 85-stroke third round, matching her second-round total. Thomas stroked six of the first nine holes at par but had three holes over par to add seven strokes. Despite adding six strokes on the back nine, Thomas finished nicely with three of the final four holes at par to finish the round at 13-over.

Following an impressive final day of the Fall Kick Off, the Eagles will start preparing for The City with Spirit Fall Classic on September 16th and 17th.
