SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Sophomores Caitlyn Lance and Sara Kelley both homered as the Carson-Newman Lady Eagles thumped No. 6 Armstrong Atlantic State, 8-2, at the Mid-South Classic Tournament on Saturday afternoon.

The win is the Lady Eagles' second against a ranked team on the weekend. They beat No. 22 Flagler on Friday night, 3-1.

Kelley gave C-N a 1-0 lead in the second inning with a solo blast to jump start the Lady Eagles' offense.

Lance dealt the big blow, a three-run shot, in the fifth inning as C-N broke open a one-run game to take a 6-2 lead.

C-N starter Mary Shealy scattered eight hits and struck out four to keep the Pirates at bay.

C-N dropped its nightcap against Le Moyne, 5-1, and finishes the tournament 2-2.
