EMORY, Va. – Carson-Newman swimming returns from their first SAC Conference meet at Emory & Henry where the Eagles secured a 261-104 victory over the Wasps.
The Eagles kicked off their SAC competition going to Emory & Henry for the third year in a row where the team has swept the all three meetings. The times for this meet were measured in meters which results in slower times.
The Eagles men's team secured a dominant win over the Wasps with a score of 140-39. Junior swimmer Aurthur Gluzman had a standout performance in the 100-meter freestyle as well as Asger Hartvig with a first place performance in the 200-meter IM with a time of 2:17.49.
The men's team saw notable finishes from Jack Herbert in the 400-meter freestyle (4:26.28), Jake Sell in the 100-meter butterfly (58.80), and Jakov Igrec in the 200-meter backstroke (2:17.10).
Women's swimming saw top performance from Megan Corcoran in the 200-meter IM with a time of 2:27.99 and Maria Tirulli with a first place finish in the 100-Meter butterfly in a final time of 1:05.97.
Other standout finishes for the women's team included Olivia Muir in the 200-meter freestyle (2:10.45), Emma Bowling in the 100-meter backstroke (1:07.26), and Breanna Belcher in the 100-meter backstroke (1:14.62).
This was the first of eight road trips the Eagles will take this season and Young is excited to see how the team will handle this challenge.
Carson-Newman gets back to the pool Saturday Oct. 12 when the team heads to Blacksburg, Va. for the match at Virginia Tech beginning at 1:00 p.m.
