
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Carson-Newman Swimming ends the 2025 South Atlantic Conference Swimming Championships with third place finishes on both men's and women's sides.
The 2025 South Atlantic Conference Swimming Championships concluded today, Saturday, Feb. 8 in Greensboro, N.C. where C-N finished in third place overall on both men's and women's squads.
The Eagles ended the fifth day of competition with one gold medal, one silver medal and one bronze medal.
On the women's side, the team ended the week in third place with a final score of 1,117, Wingate took home the victory ending in first place with a final score of 1,897 and Catawba in second place with 1,782. Behind C-N was fourth place Mars Hill (593), fifth place Lenoir-Rhyne (581), and sixth place Emory & Henry (388).
Megan Corcoran was named the Freshman of the Year at the award ceremony. Corcoran finished the last day with a 4th place finish in the 200-yard Backstroke in a time of 2:03.71. Emma Bowling earned sixth place in the 100-freestyle in a time of 51.93 which was good enough for a NCAA DII "B" cut time in that event. The Eagles ended the day by getting sliver in the 400-yard Freestyle Relay where swimmers Olivia Kerr-Muir, Emma Bowling, Megan Corcoran and Martina Ivanova finished in a time of 3:26.69.
Wingate swept the meet with a first place victory on the men's side with a final score of 1,757.5. Catawba came in second overall with a score 1,514.5 and Carson-Newman rounding out the top three with a final score of 1,345. Lenoir-Rhyne grabbed the number four spot with a score of 749. Fifth was Mars Hill (703) and Sixth Emory & Henry (388).
Asger Hartvig stood out again with his performance in the 200-yard Breaststroke winning gold with a time of 2:00.68, Hartvig's swim earned him a NCAA DII "B" cut in that event. Daniel de Oliveira got fourth in the 100-yard Freestyle in a time of 44.26 followed by fifth place Arthur Gluzman with a time of 44.39. Oliveira and Gluzman's times were both good enough to earn a NCAA DII "B" cut time in the 200-yard Breaststroke. Will Humphreys secured a sixth place finish in the 200-yard Backstroke in a time of 1:50.60.
The men's squad capped off the night with a bronze finish in the 400-yard Freestyle Relay. Swimmers Daniel de Oliveira, Arthur Gluzman, Gabriel Bozzolo and Tyler Schehr ended with a time of 2:58.93.
With the regular season coming to a close, Carson-Newman looks to hear what awaits the team at the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships taking place at the Indiana University Natatorium in Indianapolis, Ind. Nationals begin on Tuesday, March. 11 through Saturday, March. 15.
