Rowland Leads Georgia College to 82-70 Victory Over Carson-Newman in Dick Campbell Memorial Class

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. -- Senior guard Ty Rowland poured in 19 points to lead Georgia College to an 82-70 victory over Carson-Newman on Friday night in game one of the Dick Campbell Memorial Classic at Holt Fieldhouse.

With the loss, the Eagles fall to 3-2 on the season, while the Bobcats improve to 3-0.

The Eagles shot 40 percent from the field (24-of-60) on the night, including a 7-of-16 effort from behind the arc. Georgia College made 43.2 percent (32-of-74) of its attempts. The Bobcats did plenty of damage from 3-point range, shooting at a 40.7 percent (11-of-27) clip.

Junior guard J.J. Wesley (Mobile, Ala.) led three Eagles in double figures with 24 points, including four 3-pointers. Sophomore guard Cameron Sharp (Knoxville, Tenn.) added 13 points and four assists, while Sophomore forward Quinche Dowdell (Oak Ridge, Tenn.) pitched in 11 points and a game-high nine rebounds.

Jake Rios added 14 points for Georgia College, while Graham Martin and Reece Wiedeman tallied 13 and 10 points, respectively, in the win.

Georgia College held a 43-33 lead at the break, but C-N battled back to cut the Bobcats' lead to 43-38 on a jumper by Wesley at the 18:23 mark of the second half.

However, Georgia College went on a 22-10 run capped off by a pair of free throws by Robert Thomas to put the game out of reach at 65-48 with 9:50 left in the contest.

C-N returns to action in the Dick Campbell Memorial Classic on Saturday. The Eagles are set to take on North Georgia at 4 p.m., while Georgia College and Tusculum are slated to play the first game at 2 p.m. at Holt Fieldhouse.
