Eagles vault into D2SIDA Top 20

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For the second time in program history, Carson-Newman is ranked in the D2SIDA Top 20.

The Eagles vault from the receiving votes section to No. 20 for the Jan. 9 iteration of the poll.

Carson-Newman spent one week earlier this season at No. 20 in the D2SIDA poll before losing 75-70 at Newberry and dropping out of the rankings.

The Eagles are receiving votes in the NABC Coaches Poll, and sit four spots outside the top 25.

C-N also spent one week ranked in the NABC Poll earlier this year.  Carson-Newman was ranked 23rd by the coaches the same week they were 20th in the media poll.

Carson-Newman is one of three South Atlantic Conference schools featured in the rankings.  Queens is the top team in the land according to the coaches and number two according to the media.

Lincoln Memorial registers fifth in both the NABC and D2SIDA polls.

The Eagles play two road games this week, at Tusculum Wednesday before trekking to the Old North State to play Wingate Saturday.

Tipoff Wednesday against Tusculum is set for 8 p.m.  Pregame coverage begins at 7:45 on the Eagle Sports Network with the AEC Countdown to Tipoff on Mountain Country 106.3 (WFPT-FM, Sevierville) and online at cneagles.com/live.
