JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Carson-Newman's fresh faces shone through during the program's annual media day scrimmage Saturday morning at Burke-Tarr Stadium.

ETSU transfer Trey Mitchell found Braxton Westfield on a slant that Westfield took 55 yards for a score. Mike Whatley tossed a TD to McKendree transfer Dequan Dudley. Meanwhile, it was New Haven transfer Ryan McCarthy who scored on a screen and a dive in the situational scrimmage. 

Defensively, Jalen Anderson snatched a pick.  

Carson-Newman concludes its preseason scrimmages Wednesday at Burke-Tarr Stadium at 10:15 a.m.  The Eagles open the season Sept. 2 at 7 p.m. against West Georgia.
