Gloria Walker is in her sixth year at Carson-Newman. She currently serves as the Co-Director of the Student Success Center and the Director of Academic Development for Student-Athletes. 

A native of Vernon, Florida, Walker graduated from the University of Memphis with a Bachelor of Science in Education with an emphasis in Health, Physical, Recreation and Dance.  She received her Masters in Educational Leadership from Carson-Newman University in 2016 and is currently pursing her Doctorate of Education in Leadership. Walker played collegiate basketball and volleyball at the University of North Alabama.

Walker has taught physical education and wellness for 13 years, coached high school girls basketball for four years and AAU basketball for 10 years. 

She has raised three children, two of whom participated in collegiate athletics. 

Her son, Darrion, is a cheer and dance coach for Woodlands Elite in Houston, Texas. Chris, a former defensive end for the University of Tennessee, has returned to his alma mater as the Campus Director for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and serves as the chaplain for football and men’s basketball. Briana, who played collegiate basketball at Georgia Southwestern University, is currently perusing her culinary degree in Boulder, Colorado.

Walker’s office is in the Student Success Center located on the second floor of Stephens-Burnett Memorial Library.
