JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. — Carson-Newman College fought back in the second half, but couldn't stop Anderson (S.C.) University from keeping its conference record clean. The Trojans leave Holt Fieldhouse winners Saturday, taking out the Eagles 82-70 in a South Atlantic Conference match up.

Anderson is 13-3 on the season and a perfect 8-0 in the SAC. C-N is 10-8 overall and 3-4 in the conference.

The Eagles put two players in double figures in the comeback attempt. Sophomore Antoine Davis (Rustburg, Va.) led both teams with 25 points while pulling down eight rebounds. Freshman Corbin Jackson (Rockledge, Fla.) had 13 points, seven rebounds and four blocks.

Anderson was just too deadly from the field with Denzail Jones scoring 12 of his 17 points from beyond the three-point arc. He made his first four three-point attempts.

Chandler Hash, off the bench, scored 13 points and was 3-for-5 from three-point range and Steven Cobb added 12 more points in a reserve role.

Tyrell McDowell and Nick Trull each scored 12 points apiece for the Trojans. McDowell added eight rebounds.

While the Eagles did a great job taking care of the ball with just 13 turnovers, Anderson did them one better. The Trojans turned the ball over just 12 times, limiting C-N's opportunities to come back.

Still, with a little over six minutes to go in the game, Carson-Newman had pulled within seven points after a three from Davis. A three-pointer from Hash pushed the Trojans' lead back to double digits and C-N was never able to cut down to less than 12 again.

The loss wastes a pretty good shooting day from the Eagles. C-N shot 40.6 percent in the first half and improved to 44.4 percent in the second. In the end it was the three-pointers, Carson-Newman sank just 6-of-24, that were the difference. The Trojans were 11-for-26 from three-point range.

Carson-Newman will next see action against one of the top NCAA Division II team in the country when they travel to Harrogate, Tenn. to take on the No. 6-ranked Lincoln Memorial Railsplitters Wed. at 8 p.m.
