Davis, Sanders haul in hardware with first team All-SAC honors

ROCK HILL, S.C. – For the second straight season Carson-Newman forward Antoine Davis (Rustburg, Va.) and guard Ish Sanders (Cleveland, Tenn.) were both named to the South Atlantic Conference's all-conference first team.

Carson-Newman is the only team in the league with two first team all-conference selections.

Davis is fifth in the South Atlantic Conference in scoring with 19.5 points per game.  He has scored double figures in all but four games this season, one of which he was hampered by a rolled left ankle and the other by a severe case of the stomach flu (the first game, against Catawba, he still managed to pull down 10 rebounds the fifth such game in his career).

He has scored more than 20 points on 15 occasions this season. He's hit 29 points on two occasions, both against Anderson.  He has six games with 25 points or more this year.  The 2012-13 South Atlantic Conference player of the year has 18 games with five or more rebounds and six games with five or more assists. The Eagles are unbeaten this year when he drops five or more dimes a year.

Davis earned conference player of the week honors once in his senior campaign.  He has 1,499 points in his career and sits in eighth on Carson-Newman's all-time scoring list.

Sanders is fourth in the conference in scoring with 19.7 points per game.  He has moved into the top five on both Carson-Newman's and the South Atlantic Conference's all-time scoring lists.

He leads the league with 2.0 steals per game.  Sanders has crested the 30-point mark on three occasions and has been selected SAC Player of the Week.  He has 16 20-point games this year and has scored double figures in all but two games this season.

Sanders is more than just a scorer, dishing out at least five assists on seven occasions.  He produced a career high six steals against Mars Hill and turned in a season high seven assists against Lee-McRae.

He ranks second in the league with 3.2 made threes per game and leads the league among players who have played more than 20 games in FT percentage at 90.9 percent.

Sanders is already the conference's all-time leader in made three pointers with 338 for his career. With 1,883 career points, Sanders needs 22 to move into a tie for fourth on the SAC's all-time scoring list.

Sanders and Davis are on display Wednesday night in the Eagles' quarterfinal SAC tournament contest with Coker at 8 p.m. The game has been deemed a "Fog Out" and fans are encouraged to wear white to the contest.

The game will be available on the Eagle Sports Network at 106.3 ESPN Radio The Zone (WPFT-FM, Sevierville) and online at cneagles.com/live.
