Fall Frosty Awards Nominees: Team of the Year

From now until Jan. 2, the Carson-Newman Athletic Communications Department will debut the Frosty Award nominees for the fall semester.  These are the fall nominees for Team of the Year. Christmas Day, we'll unveil the candidates for Play of the Year. 

The 10th annual Frosty Awards will take place May 2 and honor athletic excellence in Carson-Newman's athletic department.

Team of the Year

Volleyball: Carson-Newman earned its ninth trip the NCAA Tournament as the No. 3 seed in the Southeast Region after winning the South Atlantic Conference's Mountain Division Championship. The Eagles earned their seventh 25-win season in the holster with the 27 overall wins tied for the fourth-most in the 34 years of the program. The Orange and Blue saw four players earn all-conference laurels and Julia Wheeler become the second All-American in school history earned plaudits from the AVCA and D2CCA.

Men's Cross Country: The men's cross country team notched their highest finish in the region since 2003 with an 8th place finish at the 2022 NCAA D2 Southeast Regionals. Two weeks prior, the team finished 5th in the conference at the SAC Championships. Among the season's highlights is the team's performance at the Asics invitational where they finished third in a race that featured multiple D1 schools. Brent Borden's 25:28.6 8K from the UAH Invitational marks the team's best time of the year. Colten Lee notched a spot on the Freshman All-Conference team for his performance at the SAC Championship where he was just the third freshman to the race. Lee had a time of 26:58.6, good enough for 24th place at the event.
