2023 Preseason All-SAC Teams

ROCK HILL, S.C. – After crushing the ball to end the campaign, Harrison Travis was named a preseason second-team All-South Atlantic Conference catcher announced by the league on Tuesday ahead of the 2023 campaign.

The Soddy Daisy, Tenn. native produced a breakout season in 2022 hitting .304 with nine homers and 43 RBIs after tallying three long balls and 22 RBIs in the first 46 games of his career. Dealing with injuries in February, the right-handed bat was held to a .148 batting average without a long ball and six RBIs in 10 games. Over the final 33 affairs of the year, he hit .342 with nine dingers, eight doubles, two triples and 37 RBIs. He finished in the top 10 of the league with one RBI per game, a .622 slugging percentage and a team-leading four triples.

Over a five-day stretch in April, Travis launched five home runs while driving in at least one run in 17 of the final 20 contests of the season. All told he ended the season with 12 multi-hit games and 12 multi-RBI contests. The backstop registered two games with at least four RBIs while the rest of the team notched five combined. Entering the 2023 season, he is riding a four-game hitting streak after having hits in 11 of the final 12 games of last season, five of which were at least two knocks.

On March 29 against DePauw, Travis finished a single shy of the cycle going 3-for-3 with four RBIs. In a 9-6 series finale triumph at Tusculum on April 10, he went 3-for-5 with two homers, a triple, five RBIs and two runs scored to start a string of three straight games with multiple pokes. The Volunteer State native tied for the team lead with 21 hits with runners in scoring position posting a .375 average in those situations, the top mark on the roster.
