CoVID issues re-arrange men's and women's hoops schedules

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Due to roster issues with both Coker's men's and women's basketball programs in meeting the SAC's Return to Play protocols for CoVID-19, Carson-Newman's Wednesday doubleheader with the Cobras has been postponed.

Teams must have eight available players and a coach, but can opt to play with fewer players. Should the games be unable to be made up, Carson-Newman's men's and women's teams will be credited with a win in the SAC standings while the game would be declared a no-contest for NCAA record keeping.

While the games with Coker have been nixed, Carson-Newman will still be inside Holt Fielldhouse Wednesday night. Both men's and women's teams have moved up their doubleheaders with UVA Wise.  The Eagles an Highland Cavaliers were supposed to square off on Feb. 9. However, the openings left by Coker (the Cobras were set to travel to Wise, Va. for a Friday doubleheader), allowed the Eagles to move up their games with UVA Wise.  At present standing, Carson-Newman's men's and women's teams will now be off on Feb. 9.

Carson-Newman's men's team has set a makeup date with Coker for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Jan. 17 at 2 p.m.  A makeup date for the women's game hasn't been determined at this time.

Tune in to both Carson-Newman's men's and women's basketball games against UVA Wise Wednesday will be broadcast on the Eagle Sports Network. Coverage starts 15 minutes prior to tipoff with the AEC Countdown to Tipoff on Mountain Sports 106.3 (WPFT-FM, Sevierville) and online at cneagles.com/live.
