Read tabbed CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Carson-Newman senior midfielder Tom Read was named to the first-team College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District for Division II District 3 on Thursday afternoon.

Read's honor marks the first for the program since Sindre Welo in 2015.

The London, England native holds a 3.75 GPA as he works to attain his Master's of Business Administration. This season, he scored 11 goals on a team-high 71 shots, with 28 falling on goal. He moved up the C-N records lists with the second-most assists (31) and shots attempted (219) in his career.

Read was the only Eagle named to the All-District squad. Of the 13 district representatives, eight hail from the South Atlantic Conference. Three came from the Conference Carolinas and the remaining two represented the Peach Belt Conference.

The Academic All-District® teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada, recognizing top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be announced in December.

A full release of the honorees can be found here.
