HARROGATE, Tenn. – Three goal scorers, including a two-goal outing from Thaylan Silva, helped Carson-Newman get back into the win column with a 4-0 victory over Lincoln Memorial on Wednesday afternoon at the LMU Lacrosse Complex.

Carson-Newman (8-3, 6-1) moves its South Atlantic Conference road unbeaten streak to 12 in a row, winning a third straight contest over Lincoln Memorial (1-9-2, 0-6-1) in shutout fashion, eighth all-time. Both of the last two wins in the series have featured 4-0 results.

"Great result tonight to bounce back after Saturday and keep another clean sheet on the road," Carson-Newman coach Stephen Lyons said. "Some great individual efforts and some great team combinations for a couple of the goals. We still know we have some areas to improve on, but going into Saturday's game, the guys should have a lot of confidence and look forward to hopefully another good result."

Silva (São Paulo, Brazil) notched the second multi-goal match of his career in the win, setting a new career-high with seven goals this season. Harry Whitehead (Oxford, England) also had a career outing with the second three-point performance is his time with C-N thanks to a goal and an assist, the last coming over LMU on April 4, 2021. His fourth goal of the year matches a single-season high that he set in the spring season.

Goalkeeper Bram Kaarsgaren (Den Bosch, The Netherlands) makes a move in the program record book as he sits at 7-3 on the year. He now holds sole possession of the third-most wins in program history with 23. He has three shutouts this season, 14.1 all-time for fourth-most in team history.

The Eagles' second-most goals scored in a match this season came with their second-most shot attempts, leading the tally 24-7 and holding the shots on goal advantage, 11-6, also the second-most for the year.

A foul on LMU over the right side of the 18-yard box gave Silva a free kick in the 27^th minute. He arched the shot over a wall of 'Splitters, past a diving Jackson Jalovec and into the back right corner of the net for a 1-0 lead.

The goal is the sixth for the senior this season, a new career-high.

Carson-Newman was up 13-4 in shots by the break, the most attempts taken through the opening frame this season. Silva, Whitehead and Quinten Carels (Bruges, Belgium) accounted for three shots each in that span. The Eagles' halftime lead is the fifth of the year.

Silva struck again in the 67^th minute for the brace. A throw-in landed ahead of a racing Whitehead that he quickly sent backward to an oncoming Silva inside the 6-yard box. A fast, falling touch was all he needed to connect, putting the Eagles up 2-0.

Whitehead had his scoring chance in the 75^th minute. Silva kept a ball inbounds with a backpedal pass that Nic Carsh (Newberg, Ore.) was able to pick up. He made a speedy toss to the junior near the top of the 18-yard box that he launched into the back left of the net. He has scored in three straight matches.

Matheus Maia (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) used a free kick in the 87^th minute to sandwich the Orange and Blue scoring carousel. A yellow card shown to LMU's Kurtis Orrson set him up at the top of the penalty box, sending a shot to the back left of the net and past a flying Jalovec.

Whitehead led all players with seven shot attempts, three on frame to match his season-high for this campaign. Silva was right behind with five chances, two on goal.

Kaarsgaren made six saves in the win.

Diego Alvarado had the most shot attempts for LMU with two, one of those landing on goal. Five other Railsplitters took a chance each that they also landed on frame.

The Eagles' offensive onslaught forced Jalovec to make seven saves.

Carson-Newman stays on the road this weekend for a Saturday trip to Newberry. That match with the Wolves is set for a 3:30 p.m. first kick.
