BRISTOL, Tenn. — The Carson-Newman women's basketball team used a big second-half run to defeat King College, 64-50, on Saturday afternoon in Bristol, Tenn.

The Lady Eagles trailed 25-19 at the half and were behind 27-21 early in the second half before going on a decisive 36-11 run to take control of the game.

With the win, C-N improves to 4-5 on the season. King College drops to 2-10 overall.

Sophomore guard Candis Clear (Memphis, Tenn.) tallied 13 points to lead four Lady Eagles in double figures, while senior guard Mandy Mendenhall (Kingston Springs, Tenn.) and junior forward Zoriah Williams (Calera, Ala.) netted 12 points apiece. Senior Katlin Moore (Fort Mill, S.C.) added 10 points in the win.

Derika Mooney scored 16 points to pace the Lady Tornado, while Brooke Johnson pitched in 11 points and Kalen Collins finished with 10.

The Lady Eagles led 13-4 early on after a 3-pointer by Clear at the 11:08 mark of the first half, but King College closed out the half on a 21-6 run to take a 25-19 lead into the locker room.

After the Lady Tornado pushed their lead to 27-21 on a basket by Brianna Kelley, Mendenhall knocked down a free throw and later added a 3-pointer to spark C-N's 36-11 run. Senior Amber Blackwell (Duluth, Ga.) knocked down a pair of free throws to cap the run, giving the Lady Eagles a 57-38 lead with 6:18 remaining. King College was unable to pull closer than 12 points the rest of the way.

The Lady Eagles return to action on Wednesday at home in a South Atlantic Conference matchup with Wingate. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. at Holt Fieldhouse.
