Adam Cavalier is in his 13th year at Carson-Newman as the "Voice of the Eagles."
Cavalier handles media relations duties for Carson-Newman football, men's basketball and softball. He serves on the South Atlantic Conference's Marketing and Branding committee, the NCAA's Regional Advisory Committee for Men's Soccer and is a national voter for the D2Football.com Football poll and D2SIDA Men's Basketball poll.
During Cavalier's tenure, the Carson-Newman Athletic Communications office has grown by leaps and bounds. The office has produced more than four years worth of video content that has been viewed by more than 800,000 people over the last six years. Furthermore, Carson-Newman's social media channels have the second largest impact of any Division II school in the country as a function of enrollment. Carson-Newman leads the South Atlantic Confernece in Facebook likes and Instagram follows under Cavalier's leadership.
in 2022, the Carson-Newman Athletic Communications Office was named the SAC's Media Relations Staff of the Year under Cavalier's leadership.
The Montgomery, W.Va.-native brought home 31 career awards in the CSC Publications and Digital Design contest since 2018, being recognized from everything from media guides and game notes to schedule posters, graphics and hype videos.
All told, under Cavalier's leadership, the department has been recognized by CSC 64 imes in the last eight years for its design work. Starting in 2021, the department has brought home double-digit honors each year, ranking it in the top 10 nationally for a four-year run.
He also won two Stabley Writing Wards in 2017 for story with video and athlete feature.
For his call of Ish Sanders' game-winning three in 2013 against Lenoir-Rhyne, Cavalier won the inaugural Stretch Internet Call of the Year for the best single play-by-play call in the country for that year.
Cavalier's previous stops include a year stint with West Virginia Public Broadcasting as the radio network's Charleston Bureau Chief and six years with WMUL-FM.
A decorated journalist, Cavalier has won more than 250 state, regional, national and international awards for his work across media platforms. In 2012, the West Virginia Associated Press Broadcasters' Association lauded him with its Significant Impact Award, given to an individual who has worked in broadcasting in the state for at least six years and whom has made a "significant impact" on the industry in the state. He is the award's youngest winner in its history.
From 2009-2011 he guided Marshall University's award-winning campus radio station WMUL-FM as its graduate student station manager. At the same time, he was the play-by-play voice of the Marshall women's basketball team. During his tenure with WMUL, both as an undergrad and graduate student, he was twice named the WVAPBA's Broadcast Journalist of the Year. He won the organization's reporter of the year award four times and its sportscaster of the year twice. Through Cavalier's two years as station manager, the station as a whole garnered 230 awards, including a station-record breaking 131 in his final year with WMUL-FM.
In 2009, Cavalier won the inaugural Jim Nantz Award from the Sportscasters Talent Agency of America as the top collegiate sportscaster in America. The same day, he finished second in the Hearst Journalism Awards radio news competition for the best collegiate news reporter in the nation.
As a competitor in the National Broadcasting Society's Audio Production competition, Cavalier was undefeated in the play-by-play category. He won the award all four years he competed for it and swept the category on two occassions.
Cavalier is married to the former Leannda Carey. He and Leannda have a pair of daughters, Siena and Adria, and a cat named Professor. They live in Jefferson City.
