From now until Jan. 3, the Carson-Newman Athletic Communications Department will debut the Frosty Award nominees for the fall semester.  These are the fall nominees for Male Freshman of the Year. Saturday, we'll unveil the Female Freshman of the Year.

Shortly before he passed away in 2016, legendary Carson-Newman head football coach Ken Sparks confided in his friend, former quarterback and assistant coach David Needs, a hope he would like fulfilled. A goal that Needs then the head track coach at Carson-Newman took on as a personal challenge.

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Longtime Carson-Newman head golf coach, assistant football coach and Hall of Famer Charlie King passed away Mondayu Nov. 10 at the age of 94.

Carson-Newman caught fire in the final holes of the second 18 to shoot a team-best score of even-par and sits just outside the top five.

Dylan Frein rallied from a tough start to his final round to land top 10 in the field while C-N has their worst day of the tournament to fall two places.

Carson-Newman men’s golf will make the long drive up to Findlay, Ohio for the Doc Spragg Invitational to face unfamiliar Midwest foes receiving votes ahead of the Eagles in the Bushnell/Golfweek Coaches’ poll and set them up for Clippd rankings, which come out in the next few weeks.

Aidan Collier, Dylan Frein, Theo Baker all finished top 25 or better while a few unfortunate double-bogeys in the home stretch would drop the Eagles two positions.

With a two-round total at five-under, Collier holds a one-stroke lead over the next competitor while the Eagles team sits solo 7th above #3 North Georgia and #4 Lincoln Memorial.

The men will travel to Albany, Georgia to the Hurricane Invitational, where another challenging field of 15 teams will Duke it out at the hosting Doublegate Country Club.

The Carson-Newman men’s golf team shot a team-best round in the final 18 holes for a two-over showing as a team. That would move them up one spot on the leaderboard to finish 13th.

After shooting 294 in the first round and sitting tied for 7th, the Eagles Men’s golf team fell to 14th place with a 309 in round two.

Carson-Newman men’s golf heads to Gainesville, Georgia for their first 72 holes of the 2025-26 season, where they will compete with six of the top ten teams in the nation for the Mizuno Intercollegiate.

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Cleveland State Community College has announced the hiring of longtime Carson-Newman head women's golf coach, associate athletic director and senior women's administrator Suzanne Strudwick to be the institution's new athletic director.
