Eagles' Opener with Winona State and October Showdown with Mars Hill to be Televised on CSS

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. — The ninth-ranked Carson-Newman football team will be featured in two regionally televised games on Comcast Sports Southeast (CSS) during the 2010 season.

The Eagles are scheduled to play in televised home games against Winona State on Saturday, Aug. 28 and in a South Atlantic Conference matchup against Mars Hill on Thursday, Oct. 21.

"We are grateful for the opportunity to be selected for these telecasts," C-N athletic director David Barger said. "With all of the positive things going on at this institution, the televised games are great opportunities for Carson-Newman to put its best foot forward as well as showcase the football program."

C-N's season opener against Winona State is slated to begin at 1 p.m. on CSS, while C-N and Mars Hill will square off at 8 p.m. in the Thursday night matchup. The Eagles' contest against Mars Hill was originally schedule for Saturday, Oct. 23 before becoming a regionally televised game.

Carson-Newman is the preseason favorite to win the South Atlantic Conference title, while Mars Hill College was picked to finish third by the coaches.

Comcast/Charter Sports Southeast (CSS) is only on cable serving over six million customers in thirteen states.

"The return on our investment in television games is impossible to measure," Barger added. "The exposure and good will for Carson-Newman is a big dividend."
