Martin, White join Athletic Communications staff

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Carson-Newman Director of Athletic Communications Adam Cavalier has announced the hiring of Richard Martin and Brian White as graduate assistants for Carson-Newman's Athletic Communications team.

Martin makes his way to Mossy Creek moving north from Kennesaw State where he spent the last two years as a video assistant. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Gardner-Webb.  White moves east after graduating from Troy with his Bachelor of Science in Hospitality, Sport, and Tourism Management - Sport Management. 

"These two bring a wide swath of championship-caliber communications skills to us," Cavalier said. "Richard and B rian both set themselves apart in the application process and we belive they both will be a tremendous fit for what we do in athletic communications.  They are adept, creative and invested communications professionals. We're thrilled to have them as a part of our team." 

Martin will work with Carson-Newman's cross country, track & field and beach volleyball programs.   He will also take over hosting duties for pregame, halftime and postgame on the Eagle Sports Network for Carson-Newman football and basketball broadcasts.  Additionally, he will broadcast Carson-Newman soccer, volleyball, baseball, softball and select basketball games and produce the Mike Clowney Show.  White will handle media relations duties for Carson-Newman's women's soccer, swimming, tennis and spirit squads. 

While a student assistant at Troy, White assisted with Troy's stats crew for football, volleyball, soccer and basketball.  He also helped manage in-game film production for baseball, softball and soccer.  He was also Troy's women's tennis media relations contact.  

Meanwhile, Martin helped produce ESPN+ broadcasts for Kennesaw State women's basketball, volleyball, football, women's lacrosse and baseball.  He has done video work for the Florence Red Wolves and Forest City Owls.
