Carson-Newman updates fan attendance policies for winter sports, establishes guidelines for spring

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Carson-Newman has revised and set its attendance policies for the remaining winter indoor sports and the start of nine sports who will participate in events on campus.

Effective Feb. 6, a limited number of fans will be permitted to attend indoor Carson-Newman sporting events at Holt Fieldhouse. 

Fans will be allowed at home spring sporting events with strict rules and guidelines in place in accordance with the university's and state's COVID guidelines.

Fans will not be permitted in attendance for Carson-Newman's swim meet against Emmanuel on Jan. 30, nor men's basketball's home games against Limestone (Feb. 1) and Anderson (Feb. 3).  

NO VISITING FANS OR PARENTS WILL BE ALLOWED AT THIS TIME. 

Two family members of Carson-Newman student-athletes competing in a home contest will be permitted to attend.  

All fans in attendance must observe social distancing at contests and will be required to wear a face covering at all times that covers both the nose and the mouth.  

Furthermore, fans are required to vacate the venue following the conclusion of the event - no loitering to meet with student-athletes at the venue following the conclusion of a game is permitted.  

Venue specific guidelines

Holt Fieldhouse (Basketball and volleyball): CAPACITY - 80. Attendance is limited to family members of Carson-Newman players (two per player). These individuals must be on the pass list one week prior to game day.  Players families should RSVP with Director for Fan Engagement and Marketing Brea McConnell (bmcconnell@cn.edu).  A limited number of Eagle Club members and dignitaries will be available afer the player pass list is collected.  These individuals must RSVP with Director of Eagle Club and External Operations Sam Savell (ssavell@cn.edu) up to the close of business (4:30 p.m.) the day before a game. No student, faculty or staff tickets will be available for events in Holt Fieldhouse.  No visiting fans are permitted.  No fans will be permitted for the men's basketball home games against Limestone (Feb. 1) and Anderson (Feb. 3).  

Maddox Pool (Swimming): CAPACITY - 30. Attendance is limited to family members of Carson-Newman swimmers (two per swimmer).  These individuals must be on the pass list one week prior to game day.  Players families should RSVP with Director for Fan Engagement and Marketing Brea McConnell (bmcconnell@cn.edu). No visiting fans are permitted.  No fans will be permitted for meet with Emmanuel (Jan. 30). 

Burke-Tarr Stadium (Football): CAPACITY - 550.  Gates open one-hour prior to kickoff.  Attendance is limited to family members of Carson-Newman players (two per player). These individuals must be on the pass list the Monday prior to gameday. Players families should RSVP with Director for Fan Engagement and Marketing Brea McConnell (bmcconnell@cn.edu) as well as the Carson-Newman football coaching staff.  A limited number of tickets will be available to Eagle Club members and season ticket holders.  These fans should RSVP with with Director of Eagle Club and External Operations Sam Savell (ssavell@cn.edu) up to the close of business (4:30 p.m.) the Thursday before gameday.  There will be no Friday ticket sales nor any walk-up ticket sales for home football games.  Students, faculty and staff may reserve a limited number of tickets not to exceed capacity. These tickets must be reserved with Brea McConnell (bmcconnell@cn.edu) by the close of business (4:30 p.m.) the Thursday before a game day.  No visiting fans permitted. 

Buddy Catlett Tennis Complex (Tennis): CAPACITY - 25.  Fans must bring either their own lawn chairs, or blankets or risk grass stains sitting on the hillside adjacent Branner Avenue.  The bleachers nearest the softball field will be reserved for tennis players of the competing teams.  No visiting fans permitted. 

McCown Field at Harvey Stadium (Soccer): CAPACITY - 50.  Fans are restricted to the bleachers on the side of McCown Field closest to Burke-Tarr Stadium.  Attendance is reserved for family members of Carson-Newman student-athletes, select dignitaries and Eagle Club members.  Those wishing to attend must RSVP with Director for Fan Engagement and Marketing Brea McConnell (bmcconnell@cn.edu) and Director of Eagle Club and External Operations Sam Savell (ssavell@cn.edu) Wednesday before a home game.  The bleachers on the side of the field nearest Holt Fieldhouse will be reserved for the men's or women's teams not currently competing during the doubleheaders.  No visiting fans permitted. 

Silver Diamond Baseball Complex: CAPACITY - 85. The grandstand on first-base side will be limited to 10 fans.  The remaining 75 are encouraged to bring either their own lawn chairs, or blankets or risk grass stains sitting on the hillside adjacent the right-field line.  Attendance is reserved for family members of Carson-Newman student-athletes, select dignitaries, Eagle Club members and students.  Those wishing to attend must RSVP with Director for Fan Engagement and Marketing Brea McConnell (bmcconnell@cn.edu) and Director of Eagle Club and External Operations Sam Savell (ssavell@cn.edu) Friday before a weekend four-game series.  The area surrounding the backstop below the pressbox will be closed to fans.  only gameday personnel and tier one individual will be permitted in that area.  No visiting fans permitted. 

The Vickee Kazee-Hollifield Softball Complex: CAPACITY - 85. The grand stand behind home plate will be limited to 10 fans.   The remaining 75 are encouraged to bring either their own lawn chairs, or blankets or risk grass stains sitting on the hillside adjacent the left-field line or outside the fence along the right-field line.  Fans will not be permitted in the area leading to the pressbox or near the gate exiting the field just off the first-base coaches box.  The restroom under the pressbox will be closed to the public. The restrooms in the MSAC will be open to fans attending a Carson-Newman softball game.  No visiting fans permitted 

Carson-Newman Sand Courts (Beach Volleyball): CAPACITY 25. Fans should bring their own seating.  No visiting fans permitted.
