Eagles finish fourth among D-IIs at Fleet Feet in Huntsville on Saturday

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Carson-Newman Eagles took sixth place, fourth place among ten D-II schools, at the Fleet Feet Cross Country Invitational held on Saturday at Sharon Johnson Park.

Junior Angel Soriano (Weatherford, Tex.) led the Eagles with a 22nd place finish with a time of 28:47.

Freshman Luke Hall (Seymour, Tenn.) led three Eagles to finish in just over 30 minutes. Hall took 35th with a time of 30:39, closing just ahead of sophomore Stephen Patton (Ooltewah, Tenn.) and freshman Matt Mifflin (Crossville, Tenn.), who finished in 36th and 37th one second apart. Patton ran the course in 30:46.

Sophomore Joey Nielsen (Ringgold, Ga.) finished in 45th for C-N, while freshman Mark Edwards (Greeneville, Tenn.) finished in 61st.

Carson-Newman returns to action on Saturday at the Carson-Newman Challenge in Morristown, Tenn. The race at Panther Creek State Park begins at 9 a.m.
