Brooks, Chapman tabbed for Bojangles Athletes of the Week

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Carson-Newman men's basketball's Carson Brooks (Knoxville, Tenn.) and women's track and field's Kristin Chapman have been named Bojangles' Male and Female Athletes of the Week.

Carson Brooks saw his string of 20-point games come to an end at three against Catawba. However, he still scored 15 points against the Indians to extend his career long stretch of double digit games to 14 (one away from matching Carson-Newman legend Ish Sanders' streak).

Brooks finished the Anderson game 10-11 from the field, that's the second best single game field goal percentage with more than 10 shots.  Only Brooks' 12-12 effort to start the season against Barton is better.  Brooks hit two critical free throws down the stretch against Catawba to help the Eagles preserve that win.

Sophomore Kristin Chapman led the pack in the women's high jump for the second week in a row earning first-place after a leap of 1.66m (5'05.25") in Boone, N.C..  She beat seven other competitors, including two Division-I opponents.

In her last meet at East Tennessee State University, she placed third and  beat out more D-I athletes.

Chapman has already provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships in May.

Bojangles is a proud corporate sponsor of Carson-Newman athletics.  Eagle fans can get a free large sweet tea from the Jefferson City location the day after Carson-Newman basketball games where the Eagle women score 65 points or the men score 70 points by telling the cashier, "It's Bo Time at Carson-Newman."
