Eagles wrap up road stretch with Anderson

C-N Match Notes

JEFFERSON-CITY, Tenn.- Carson-Newman (2-1-2) finishes up its four-game road trip with a road matchup with Anderson (1-2-1) Saturday night. 

C-N began South Atlantic Conference play on Saturday with 1-1 tie against Limestone. Graduate student Gustavo Moses Bessa scored the equalizer in the 56th minute on a quality cross from senior Tim Vercelli

The draw with Limestone was the second consecutive game the Eagles have tied. It's the first time since November of 2019 that C-N has played to a tie in back-to-back matches. C-N's six corner kicks were a new season high. 

Nine different Eagles have combined to score the ten goals this season. Senior Nic Carsh leads the squad with two goals, while fellow senior Willem Kruijk has a team high two assists. Kruijk leads the team in shots (11) which is tied for second in the SAC. 

Senior goalkeeper Darin De Meza has ten saves in the four starts he has made this season. 

The Eagles have conceded the first goal in all five matches to begin 2022. C-N is third in the conference in goals, assists and points. 

Similar to C-N, Anderson also began SAC play with a 1-1 tie on Wednesday against Wingate. The Trojans went 1-2 in non-conference play, with the win coming last Saturday against Mount Olive. 

Three of the four goals scored this season are by sophomore Diego Jaramillo. Four different players have assisted on the goals for Anderson this season. Anderson has been outscored 6-4 in the four matches this season.

Goalkeeper Amos Uber is tied for 2nd in the SAC with 16 saves and one clean sheet. He recorded a season high eight saves in the season opening loss to nationally ranked Nova Southeastern. 

Anderson was picked to finish 5th in the SAC this season. 

C-N leads the all-time series with Anderson 7-5-2. The Eagles are 2-1-1 on the road in the series. The Trojans took last year's meeting in Mossy Creek 2-1. 

The Eagles are 12-1-3 over the last three seasons on the road in SAC action.
