JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman Eagles (2-6) women's soccer team will host the Limestone Saints (5-3) on Saturday at McCown Field at noon.

The Eagles are coming off of a 3-0 loss at Wingate last Saturday, and Carson-Newman head coach Richard Moodie said not having a match during the week has helped his team.

"We pushed them a lot harder this week," Moodie said. "Their confidence is high, they are working hard, they refuse to give up even though the results haven't gone our way. We should be a lot better than what we are with the results we just can't seem to catch a break.

"I'm a firm believer that you have to earn luck, so hopefully we'll earn some luck on Saturday against Limestone," said Moodie.

Carson-Newman has lost its last four matches, with the last win coming on Sept. 8 against Lees-McRae. Junior forward Bianca Hall (Newcastle, England) and freshman midfielder Mikayla Gregg (Newport, Tenn.) both lead the Eagles with three goals this season, while the duo also lead the Eagles in points (six) and shots (12), along with junior forward Danna Stringle's 12 shots.

Freshman goalkeeper Kendra Ivins (Chattanooga, Tenn.) has started each match between the posts for Carson-Newman, allowing 23 goals while collecting 51 saves during the 2012 season.

Limestone is a member of Conference Carolinas, and is coached by Matt Smith. The Saints have won their last two matches, beating Converse 4-1 on Sept. 21, and Erskine 1-0 in two overtimes on Wednesday.

Sophomore forward Gabriella Reid leads the Saints in scoring with her 11 points on five goals and one assist. Junior goalkeeper Tori Waddell has seen the majority of playing time between the posts for Limestone, and she has allowed seven goals while making 28 saves in eight matches and six starts.

"They're (Limestone's) record has been pretty decent," said Moodie. "They're a good team but of course they have to try and come here to McCown Field to pick up a winning result."

Following the women's match, Carson-Newman's men's soccer team will face Young Harris at 3 p.m. at McCown Field.

A live audio webcast of the match will be available on www.cneagles.com.
