JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman Lady Eagles earned their lone point from Tiffany Delias at No. 6 to avoid a shutout at the hands of visiting Tusculum. 8-1, on Wednesday afternoon at the C-N Tennis Complex.
Delias beat the Megan Buckmaster, 6-7 (4), 6-4, 12-10 in the day's most exciting match to give the Lady Eagles a point.
C-N continues to play without its No. 1 singles player and senior Kylie Elliott.
C-N struggled in doubles and lost all three points to fall into an early hole.
Katie Brown hung tough in her first set, losing 7-5, 6-0 at No. 3 singles for the shorthanded Lady Eagles.
Carson-Newman returns to action in its hurried South Atlantic Conference schedule on Friday and Saturday. C-N hosts Catawba on Friday at 2 p.m. and Wingate on Saturday at 11 a.m. The matches are C-N's fifth and six league matches in a 10-day stretch.
