C-N Continues to Roll, Defeating UVA-Wise 4-0

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Facing its second conference opponent in as many days, Carson-Newman (7-5, 5-2 SAC) earned its fifth-straight SAC win, defeating UVA-Wise (8-8, 1-5 SAC), 4-0.

Playing until the clinch, the Eagles made quick work of the Highland Cavaliers, taking the doubles point and winning the first three singles matches to end the match.

In singles play, C-N earned points in No. 1, 3, and 5 singles, as Natasha Forrest, Suryanshi, and Leah McBride earned straight-set victories. Since the Eagles handled business quickly, Summer Reeves, Sindija Manovska, and Maria Ulloa did not finish their singles matches.

No. 2: Summer Reeves (C-N) vs. Christina Korakopoulou (UVAW), 4-5, DNF

No. 4: Sindija Manovska (C-N) vs. Kinsey Knox (UVAW), 6-0/1-0, DNF

No. 5: Leah McBride (C-N) def. Emily Conn (UVAW), 6-0/6-0

No. 6: Maria Ulloa (C-N) vs. Abiela Wang (UVAW), DNP

In doubles play, the Highland Cavaliers notched their only win of the day with a win in No. 3 doubles. However, C-N took No. 1 and 2 as the all-conference duo of Natasha Forrest and Summer Reeves grinded out another win in the No. 1 slot, and the freshmen pairing of Suryanshi and Leah McBride clinched the point at No. 2 doubles.

The Eagles continue to roll with the win, earning their fifth consecutive win in conference play. However, the biggest challenge of the conference slate still awaits with No. 15 Wingate tomorrow.

"We need to bring energy tomorrow against Wingate," head coach Jon Parker said. "They are a very strong team… This will be a great opportunity for us to get better and stronger together."

The Eagles and the Bulldogs will square off tomorrow at 9 AM in Jefferson City.
