Eagles Earn Second-Straight Conference Win, Defeat No. 45 Anderson

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Following its first SAC win over the weekend, Carson-Newman (4-5, 2-2 SAC) notched its second-consecutive win in conference play, defeating No. 45 Anderson (8-3, 4-2 SAC), 4-3.

Despite dropping both No. 1 and 2 singles, C-N took three of the last four matches to split the six matches. Suryanshi and Leah McBride continued impressive freshman campaigns, while Summer Reeves earned a big win in No. 3 singles.

No. 1: Miriam Bayatyan (AU) def. Anita Chornei (C-N), 6-4/6-3

No. 2: Alexandra Braithwaite (AU) def. Natasha Forrest (C-N), 2-6/6-3/6-4

No. 3: Summer Reeves (C-N) def. Katie Robeson (AU), 6-4/6-3

No. 4: Suryanshi (C-N) def. Gigi Sompayrac (AU), 1-6/6-3/6-3

No. 5: Valentina Borda (AU) def. Sindija Manovska (C-N), 7-6/6-2

No. 6: Leah McBride (C-N) def. Elena Ronconi (AU), 6-2/6-1

The Eagles were dominant in doubles, winning all three matches by three games or more. The preseason all-conference doubles pairing of Natasha Forrest and Summer Reeves cruised to a win in No. 1 doubles, while the young duo of Leah McBride and Suryanshi clinched the point with a win in No. 2.
