JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman Director of Athletic Communications Adam Cavalier announced Monday afternoon that Danielle Whaley has joined the department as Associate Director of Athletic Communications.
Whaley makes her way to Mossy Creek after graduating Summa Cum Laude from the University of Tennessee. She replaces Mark Inserra, who leaves to be the play-by-play voice at Texas A&M-Kingsville.
"Danielle brings a well-rounded skill set to the position," Cavalier said. "It quickly became apparent that she has the drive to succeed here. She brings a wealth of graphic design, writing and broadcast experience to the shop, and comes highly recommended from several people I trust deeply."
The 2013 Valedictorian of Pigeon Forge High School has worked with both the Tennessee Smokies as an on-field host and promotions assistant and with the University of Tennessee's media relations department.
She has written for both the Tennessee Journalist and The Mountain Press as a correspondent.
Whaley will work with Carson-Newman's men's soccer program as well as the golf teams. She will be the secondary contact for baseball, plus men's and women's basketball.
