JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman's men's and women's basketball teams will celebrate the start of practice with Mossy Creek Madness Wednesday night at 7 p.m. in Holt Fieldhouse.
Carson-Newman students will have an opportunity to win a semester and a year's worth of free books thanks to the Carson-Newman Bookstore and Dominos is giving away a year's supply of free pizza that night.
The event is scheduled to take place in Holt Fieldhouse and will feature a three-point shootout, dunk contest and, of course, the chance to win a year's supply of pizza courtesy Dominos and a chance to win books courtesy the Carson-Newman Bookstore. Fans will be selected to have a chance to win these items by raffle.
Carson Brooks (Knoxville, Tenn.), Josh Murray (Burlington, N.C.), Parker Role' (Atlanta, Ga.) and Sawyer Williams (Owenton, Ky.) and Mason Bates (Cookeville, Tenn.) will compete for the Golden Hammer in a slam dunk contest.
Charles Clark (Murfreesboro, Tenn.), Andy Barnett (Pigeon Forge, Tenn.), Christian Harris (Gold Canyon, Ariz.) and Zach Pangallo (Newport, Ky.) will tangle for the men's three-point shoot-out crown while Tatum Burstrom (Maryville, Tenn.), Carly Pippin (Sevierville, Tenn.) Kailyn Brooks (Lafayette, Tenn.) and Taylor Peterson (Mt. Juliet, Tenn.) compete for the women's crown.
The winners of each three-point competition will then collide to determine a "Battle of the Sexes" three-point shoot-out champion.
