VIDEO: Chuck Benson Interview

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Two of the nation's most efficient offense collide when Carson-Newman (4-4, 0-2 SAC) and No. 17 Queens match up Saturday at 4 p.m. in the Queen City.

"They're a stingy defense with prolific offense," head coach Chuck Benson said. "They've got good guard play and then they've got good post play with Sean Morgan. I like where our team is at though with the progress that we've made from game one to this point."

Queens represents the second most efficient offense in the country. The Royals have made 53.3 percent of their shot attempts this season, second in the country to Columbus State, who's at 53.4 percent. Queens is coming off their worst shooting performance of the season with a 38.2 percent effort in a 75-67 win over Coker.

"They do a good job of pounding the thing inside," Benson said. "But when they've got the inside taken away, they've got good three-point shooters who can knock down shots."

The Eagles are no slouches in terms of offensive efficiency. C-N shoots 51.8 percent from the field. Carson-Newman is shooting 57 percent over its last three games.

Carson-Newman is looking to avoid an 0-3 start in South Atlantic Conference play. The Eagles last started 0-2 in conference in 2010 with losses to Catawba and Wingate. The Eagles got off that schneid with a seven-point win at Brevard.

C-N last started 0-3 in SAC play in 2006 in with losses to LMU, Newberry and Mars Hill.

Carson-Newman had six players finish in double figures in C-N's win over Limestone. It marked the first time C-N had accomplished that feat since 2014 in a win over Tennessee Welseyan. The players who did it were all the same save for one. Charles Clark, Sawyer Williams, Carson Brooks, Mason Bates and Josh Rogers all replicated their double-digit performances. Zack Pangallo was the sixth player on the plus side of 10, he replaced Jared Johnson as the sixth scorer.

Tipoff between the Eagles and Royals is set for 4 p.m. Saturday. Coverage on the Eagle Sports Network starts at 3:45 with the AEC Countdown to Tipoff on Mountain Country 106.3 (WPFT-FM, Sevierville) and online at cneagles.com/live.
