Bio

2023:  Vandergriff was a 41-game starter in the outfield for Carson-Newman.  She hit .289 this year with 33 knocks, two doubles, a home run and 21 runs batted in. The preseason All-SAC outfielder had eight multi-hit games and five multi-RBI efforts.  Vandergriff finished the season strong, with three multi-hit efforts in postseason play.  She hit her lone home run of the year and drove in three at Mars Hill (Feb. 22).

2022: Mary Vandergriff earns All-SAC honors for the first time in her career.  Vandergriff has been especially good in league play.  In SAC matchups, Vandergriff is hitting .391 with six doubles and three home runs, including a walk-off blast against Mars Hill.  The sophomore from Soddy Daisy, Tenn. set a career high against Lenoir-Rhyne when she produced her first three-hit day. She also drove in a season-best three runs against the 23rd-ranked Bears.  Overall, Vandergriff is hitting .316 with 11 two-base hits and three home runs.  She has a team-leading seven sacrifice bunts.

2021: Injured, redshirted. 

2020: Vandergriff appeared in 13 games and started four in her first season at Carson-Newman.  She hit .263 for the year with five hits, a double and four RBI.  All of her RBI came in her first career game at Converse (2/3) when she went 2-for-2.  

HIGH SCHOOL: A three-time all-district selection for former Carson-Newman Eagle Lisa Rogers Gray at Chattanooga Christian School, Vandergriff hit .434 with four home runs, 24 RBI and 44 runs scored for the Chargers as a junior.  She helped the Chargers to a state tournament berth and a fourth place finish at the AA state tournament as a junior. 

PERSONAL: The daughter of Roger and Elizabeth Vandergriff.  Her father wrestled at Middle Tennessee State.
