C-N Student-Athletes Help Freshmen Move In

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn – On Friday, some of Carson-Newman's student athletes spent time helping C-N's class of 2020 move into their new digs.

Members of the baseball, football, cross country and other teams each helped the new students get settled.

"We've done this for a couple years now," Carson-Newman Head Baseball Coach Tom Griffin said. "We want our student-athletes involved in community service. This is a small thing to do for a couple hours. All the sports do it."

The teams use it as an opportunity to make the newest members of the Eagles community feel at home on campus.

"You know [the freshman] are really nervous," Griffin said. "This gives our student-athletes an opportunity to make them feel welcome."

Athletes helping with move-in day and serving others in the community is an annual tradition in Jefferson City. Carson-Newman is ranked as the second-highest university in the nation in regards to community service participation and hours logged each year.
