Carson-Newman Men's Swimming wins first meet of the regular season against Emory & Henry

EMORY, Va.- Carson-Newman men's swim takes the victory in the first regular season meet against Emory & Henry.

Carson-Newman competed in 22 total events earlier this afternoon against Emory & Henry. The men raced in 11 of those events and brought home a victory with a final score of 167-37.

The men placed first in every event they competed in throughout the meet. The Eagles also swept the podium in five out of the 11 events, including the 200 SC meter freestyle, 100 SC meter butterfly, 100 SC meter backstroke, 100 SC meter breaststroke, and 400 SC meter freestyle.

Alonso Castro placed first in both the 400 SC meter freestyle (4:19.37) and 800 SC meter freestyle (8:50.07). Henrique Januario also took first in two events: 100 SC meter breaststroke (1:06.45) and 200 SC meter IM (2:09.76).

The first event of the night was the 200 SC meter medley relay where the Eagles took home the two top times. In first, Arthur Gluzman, Asger Hartvig, Wander Sousa, and Ridge McCay finished with a time of 1:46.40. Close behind with a time 1:50.09 was the other Carson-Newman team with Tyler Schehr, Henrique Januario, Colin Tindall, and Ridge McCay.

This was the Eagles' first conference meet of the 2022-2023 season. They will race again on Oct. 15 when Carson-Newman hosts Milligan in the Maddox Pool.
