JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Junior Kailee Morgan (Greenville, S.C.) has been named the Bluegrass Mountain Conference Female Swimmer of the Week after her wondrous performance in C-N's dual-meet against Milligan last weekend in Knoxville, Tenn.

Kailee Morgan continued her impressive outings for the women's breaststroke event as she won both the 100-yard and 200-yard events against Milligan. In the 100-yard breaststroke, Morgan took the overall win with a time of 1:03.37. A couple events later, she added to her event wins as she took the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 2:21.34. This is now the second straight event this season where Morgan has won the 100-yard breaststroke after she claimed the event during the Wingate meet on October 23.

"This is something I'm proud to finally have achieved and been named. I've been working toward this goal since freshman year and for it to come at this point in the season, I can't say enough about what it means to me," Morgan said. "The girls team this year, including myself and the girls who made it to Nationals last season, are more motivated and ready to achieve our goals. We were only mere points away from the top eight at Nationals, which would make us All-Americans as a team. I think it speaks volume that we only had five girls qualify last season and I'm ready to see how many we have this year."

The Eagles, along with Morgan's efforts, took home a 328-193 combined victory as they swept both men's and women's side of competition. For the women's side of the pool, it was Carson-Newman winning 171-89 while the men took home a 157-104 victory. This is the second straight victory for the Eagles over the Buffaloes after they defeated Milligan 381-141 to start the home season in the 2020-21 season.

This is the first Bluegrass Mountain Conference Swimmer of the Week honor for Morgan as an Eagle. The honor also marks the first such honor for Carson-Newman women's swimming since sophomore Kennadi King was honored following the Eagles meet versus Mars Hill last spring.

Morgan and the Eagles now look forward to competing in the Emory Invitational this weekend from the Judy Brown Aquatic Center in Atlanta, Georgia on November 5 and 6.

"This weekend will be a huge event for us because not only Emory will be there, but also Wingate which just adds to the competition level," Morgan said. "We've had a lot of ups and downs this season so far, but as a team, I think we can be something special and prove what we can do in an event like this weekend."
